Homemade Oven Baked Jalapeno Poppers

- 10 jalapeno peppers
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened
- 1 green onion minced
- ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded
- ¼ cup Panko bread crumbs
- 2 Tablespoon butter melted
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Line a baking sheet with foil and set aside.
Wearing gloves, slice jalapenos in half lengthwise. Using a small spoon scoop out the seeds and membranes from the inside.
In a mixing bowl combine the cream cheese, green onion, garlic powder and cheese.
Fill jalapenos with cheese mixture and place on a lined baking sheet.
In a small bowl combine Panko crumbs and melted butter. Sprinkle on top of jalapeno poppers.
Bake in a preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until golden.
Remove from the oven, let cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before serving.
Make Ahead Tips!
Prep Filling in Advance: You Can mix the cream cheese filling together and store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. When you would like to enjoy the jalapeno poppers stuff them with the cream cheese filling, top with panko mixture and bake.
Assemble in Advance: Stuff poppers with the cream cheese filling but skip adding the panko. Stir in a single layer in an airtight container or place a sheet of parchment paper between layers and refrigerator.
When ready to bake prep panko mixture, top the poppers and bake according to directions. They make take a few minutes longer because they are cold when you start.
