Should I use frozen or fresh strawberries to make strawberry sauce?
This sauce is absolutely delicious when you use fresh strawberries to make it and that’s what I recommend that you use!
If you can’t find good fresh strawberries, especially during the winter) that doesn’t mean you can’t make it. You can use frozen strawberries instead – it will still be delicious. Make sure that the frozen strawberries are not sweetened, if they are, just add less sugar.
In addition to the strawberries you just need some water, sugar, cornstarch to make the sauce. Red food coloring is optional – more on that in a minute!
How to Store Strawberry Sauce
Store in an airtight container or mason jar in the fridge for 2 weeks. Any container with an airtight seal will work!
Can strawberry sauce be frozen?
Place into a freezer-safe container, even a freezer safe plastic bag, and then freeze for 3-4 months. Allow to thaw overnight in the fridge before using!

I am not that great in the kitchen, but your recipes have helped a lot. I am a little confused with this recipe, however, when you call for 2 cups of strawberries cleaned & hulled. Based on the berries I buy, that would come to 2 berries per cup which doesn’t sound correct. Can you convert your recipe to how many cups of, chopped, berries? Thank you for your help.
Julie Evink says
It should be chopped strawberries not whole strawberries. The recipe has been updated!
