How to make pizza chicken
Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
Heat olive oil and brown chicken breasts about 2-3 minutes per side before removing from the pan.
Heat remaining oil and cook onion about 5 minutes before adding garlic, Italian seasoning and pasta sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Add chicken back to the skillet.
Sprinkle chicken with shredded cheese. Arrange pepperoni slices on top.
Place skillet into oven for 20-25 minutes. Remove from oven and enjoy.

- When you first take the chicken out of the pan, they won’t be cooked through but they will finish cooking in the oven.
- Chicken is safe to eat when it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Storage & Reheating

Ingredients
- 1 ½ to 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts about 4 medium breasts
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 Tablespoons olive oil divided
- 1 small yellow onion finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 24 ounces pizza sauce 1 jar
- 1 ½ cups mozzarella cheese shredded
- 12 slices pepperoni
Instructions
- Place a rack in the center of your oven and preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Season the chicken with the salt and pepper, sprinkling both sides.
- In a large ovenproof skillet, heat 1 Tablespoon olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken breasts, and let cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until the surface is golden brown. Flip and brown the other side. Remove to a plate (the chicken does not need to be cooked through).
- Reduce the heat to medium. Add the remaining 1 Tablespoon oil and the onion to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is tender, about 5 minutes.
- Add in the garlic, Italian seasoning and pasta sauce to skillet. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
- Nestle the chicken back into the sauce then sprinkle the cheese over the top of the chicken. Arrange the pepperoni slices on top.
- Place the skillet in the oven and cook for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a thermometer inserted in the thickest portion of the chicken registers 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Remove from the oven and enjoy.
