Ingredients for Cinnamon Roll Waffles with Cream Cheese Glaze
- Cinnamon rolls – A can of your favorite store-bought cinnamon rolls will work perfectly. You can also make homemade cinnamon rolls if you’re feeling a little fancy!
- Cream cheese icing – The cream cheese icing that comes with a can of cinnamon rolls will be the base of the sweet glaze you’ll make for these waffles.
- Cream cheese – Allow cream cheese to soften before mixing it with all of the other ingredients.
- Heavy cream – Half and half can be used as a substitute for heavy cream.
- Maple syrup – Mix syrup into the waffle glaze and you won’t need to add it to your waffles!
- Powdered sugar – Powdered sugar helps make a perfectly sweet cream cheese glaze.
- Cinnamon – Adding a little bit of cinnamon to the icing helps bring out the delicious cinnamon roll flavor of the waffles.
How to Make Cinnamon Rolls in a Waffle Maker
Whip together the cream cheese icing and softened cream cheese in a small bowl, using a hand mixer or stand mixer.
Once light and fluffy, add powdered sugar to the icing mixture and stir until thoroughly incorporated. Then, add in the heavy cream and maple syrup and mix on low speed.
Lastly, mix in the ground cinnamon until well incorporated and set the glaze aside.
Heat your waffle iron to medium heat and lightly spray it with cooking spray. Add one cinnamon roll into the middle of the hot waffle iron and cook for 2 ½ minutes.
Remove the cinnamon roll waffle and repeat the process for the remaining cinnamon rolls.
Serve golden brown cinnamon roll waffles warm and drizzled with cream cheese glaze.
Pro Tips!
- If you don’t have non-stick cooking spray, coat your waffle maker with a bit of butter. It will help ensure that the cinnamon rolls don’t stick as they’re cooking.
- Not a fan of cream cheese icing? That’s ok! You can just top your stack of waffles with maple syrup and any other desired toppings like a yummy brown sugar cinnamon butter.
- Don’t overcook your waffles. You want them to still be gooey and soft in the middle with a slightly crunchy outside.
FAQs
It might seem impossible to make these cinnamon roll waffles even better but it’s not! In addition to the cream cheese cinnamon topping, you can add a variety of different toppings to your waffles. Strawberry sauce is really tasty. You can also slice up some fresh fruit like bananas, blueberries, and strawberries to top your stack of waffles. Add a dollop of your favorite yogurt!
Chocolate chips and chopped nuts like pecans and walnuts would be great! They would also add a great crunchy texture.
If your oven has a keep warm function, this is the time to use it! As the waffles finish cooking, keep them warm in the oven. Place them on a cooling rack to keep them from getting soggy. Add the cream cheese frosting when you are ready to serve.
It is best to store the waffles and cream cheese topping separately. Unglazed waffles, stored in an airtight container, can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Alternatively, you can place waffles in the freezer for up to 3 months. Freeze the glaze separately in an airtight container.
To reheat, place waffles into the toaster or toaster oven until warmed through. Thaw the glaze overnight in the fridge.
Cinnamon roll waffles are a game changer! If you love traditional waffles, then you’ll be a huge fan of this recipe. As far as creative waffle iron recipes go, this might be the best one yet! You’ll start keeping a can of cinnamon rolls in the house at all times so you can whip these up in a pinch!
