I live in Minnesota and we grow up on casseroles around here, but we fondly refer to them as “Hot Dishes”. It’s slightly confusing having to change my words to speak other people’s languages I’ve found out.
Henceforth the whole “Supper” vs “Dinner” debate. In the Midwest we refer to dinner as supper. I started doing this because when I write for the blog I now call it dinner. My poor family started having to question when exactly I wanted to have them come over. Now, when you say dinner do you mean like noon or 6:00 pm Julie was often a big question. I went back to calling it “supper”.
Then I went to a blogging conference this past weekend and I kept asking when we were going to “Supper”. They sure had a giggle over that one! They said let’s go to supper and get some pop. Aren’t they funny!
For those of you who don’t know it we call “soda” pop. Sigh. Language is confusing!
You know what’s not confusing? This delicious Ham and Cheese Casserole with Noodles! It’s so easy, cheesy and delicious. It was a hit at our dinner table and it’s perfect for using up leftover ham from the holidays.

- Don’t have cream of cheddar soup? You can substitute cream of chicken soup
- Need to sneak some veggies in? Add 1-2 cups of your favorite veggies
- You can also use egg noodles instead of elbow macaroni
- Did you have leftovers? If it gets a little dry just stir in some milk and it will be back to the cheesy goodness you got the first time

This was really good! My husband even liked it and got seconds! He usually hates casseroles! He did say that I should add a little more cheese. Wish me luck reheating it. 😁
