How to Make Campfire Cones
There are three different ways to cook this tasty treat! Choose whichever method works best for you, but first you’ll need to build the cones. Here’s how to do that:
Line each cone with peanut butter if you wish. You can also use nutella or a different nut butter.
Then place a couple marshmallows on the bottom of the cone so that the toppings don’t melt out of the bottom of the cone.
Fill the cone with your favorite toppings. I used chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, graham cracker pieces and peanut butter.
Wrap each cone tightly with aluminum foil to seal well — you don’t have to keep the cone upright if you seal it tightly.
Oven Directions
Lay each wrapped cone onto a baking sheet and then bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 5-7 minutes.
Carefully unwrap and serve!
Grill Directions
Preheat the grill to medium high heat and place the cones on the grill grates for 5-10 minutes, turning occasionally.
Use tongs to remove from the grill and then unwrap and serve.
Campfire Directions
Heat the foil-wrapped cones over a campfire for about 3-5 minutes, or until the chocolate and marshmallows have melted.
You can either lay them on the hot coals of a fire or use some grates over the fire to lay them on.
Once heated and warmed through, unwrap and enjoy!
How to Store Campfire Smore Cones
Unwrap the cones and allow them to cool completely. Then re-wrap in a clean piece of aluminum foil or plastic wrap and place into a zip top bag. Store at room temp for a few days or in the fridge for up to a week.
When you’re ready to eat, just pop the cone in the oven for a few minutes until it’s warm again!
What to Serve with Campfire Cones
If you’re bringing these on a camping trip, then you can pair them with easy camping foods like tuna salad sandwiches and hot dogs. It’s a tasty sweet treat after blackened chicken too.
You can even make a whole meal over the campfire with vegetable and sausage packets and grilled foil potatoes.
Pro Tips for these Campfire Cones
- Always add some marshmallows into the bottom of the cone to protect any toppings from melting outside the cone.
- Don’t overfill the cones or they’ll get pretty messy when you cook them. I recommend leaving some space at the top of the cone.
- Make these seasonal with certain toppings! Mint chocolate around Christmas, pumpkin spice during the fall, etc.
