Cozy, creamy meals are my favorite thing to make when the weather begins to get chilly. Those brisk fall evenings and icy winter nights call for a good “stick-to-your-ribs” kind of meal. That’s when we turn to our favorite recipes like this baked pork chops and rice. It’s truly classic comfort food that takes virtually no effort at all to make.
We love crispy pork chops too, like these air fryer pork chops, but there’s something about these oven baked chops on top of a flavorful rice casserole that just screams comfort food! This super easy recipe serves 8, so it’s great for families. And you can store the leftovers for later! A delicious family favorite that everyone will enjoy.
Why You’ll Love Baked Pork Chops and Rice
- This is essentially a dump and bake recipe! There is virtually no prep time, so you can throw it together and then carry on with other things while it bakes.
- We love to use this as make-ahead a freezer meal. Just prep it as the instructions call for, wrap the baking dish in plastic wrap or aluminum foil or plastic wrap, and freeze. Pop into the oven when you’re ready to eat!
- Make this dish in one pan. The only other dishes you’ll use are measuring cup and spoons and a bowl! Super easy clean-up.
Ingredients for Bake Pork Chops and Rice
- Boneless pork chops – You can use bone-in pork chops if you prefer, but just keep in mind that the cook time will likely be a bit different.
- Chicken broth – You’ll need this to cook the rice to tender perfection.
- Ground pepper – Add some warmth and flavor to your pork chops with a little black pepper.
- Dry onion soup mix – This is the easy button to adding loads of flavor into this quick pork chop and rice bake.
- Cream of mushroom – Make a creamy sauce with cream of mushroom and cream of chicken soup. You can use two cans of one kind if you prefer.
- Cream of chicken – To reduce the amount of sodium in this recipe, feel free to grab a low sodium can of cream of chicken and cream of mushroom.
- Salt – Bring all of the flavors together with a bit of salt.
- Long grain rice – Some long grain white rice will hold up best in this recipe. Jasmine rice and basmati rice are my favorites.

How to Make Baked Pork Chops with Rice
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray, then set it set aside.
In a medium mixing bowl combine cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, chicken broth, rice and onion soup mix and stir well until thoroughly incorporated.
Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan. Then season both sides of pork chops with salt and pepper and gently place on top of rice mixture.
Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, until pork chops are 145 degrees Fahrenheit and rice is fully cooked.

How to Store Leftover Creamy Baked Pork Chops and Rice
Allow leftovers to cool completely and then transfer to an airtight container. You can also store in the baking dish, covered tightly in plastic wrap, if you prefer.
FRIDGE: Store leftover in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
FREEZER: Thought cooked rice doesn’t necessarily store the best in the freezer, you can freeze leftovers if you want. Transfer to an airtight container and store for 2-3 months.
Should I cover pork chops with foil when baking?
With this recipe, you should keep the baking dish covered the entire time. Not only will it cook the rice perfectly, but it will also help lock in moisture and keep the pork chops juicy and tender.
How do I keep pork chops from drying out in the oven?
There are multiple different factors to keeping pork chops juicy and tender. Make sure to let the pork chops rest before serving. This will redistribute the juices throughout the meat. It is also important to avoid overcooking. Once the internal temperature reach 145 degrees Fahrenheit, they are done.
It is also helpful to cook pork with extra fat. In this recipe, the cream of soups add extra fat content that will help keep the pork chops moist! Covering the dish while baking will also help provide extra moisture to the chops, making them juicy and melt-in-your-mouth tender.
What to Serve with Pork Chops
Serve this comfort food dish on it’s own, or with some tasty sides. Warm and fluffy crescent rolls would be perfect, as well as Olive Garden breadsticks.
Or serve it up with things roasted vegetables, air fried broccoli, or glazed carrots. Green beans with bacon are my personal favorite side to this yummy baked pork chops with rice recipe.
Pro Tips for Pork Chops with Rice
- Feel free to sprinkle in some different seasonings and spices. Red pepper flakes, onion powder, garlic powder and paprika would all be tasty.
- Don’t use thick cut pork chops or they may not finish cooking all the way. Pork chops that 1 to 1½ inches thick should work!
- Try to avoid taking the aluminum foil off while baking so that you don’t release the steam that is needed to cook the rice and keep the pork chops tender.
You’re going to love these baked pork chops and rice with cream of mushroom soup! It’s the creamiest comfort food and is seriously so easy to make.
